Mrs Callaghan's class celebrate World Book Day

9th Mar 2017

We had so much fun today celebrating World Book Day! To celebrate we all came to school dressed in something yellow, as yellow was a famous author called Roald Dahl's favourite colour.  When we came into class this morning we made some colourful bookmarks which we can use when we are reading our favourite books.  Then we went to the assembly hall, where we had a special assembly this morning led by Mrs Morrow all about some of our favourite authors and stories.  When we came back to our class, we had a special treat as some of the boys and girls from P7 came to read stories which they had written especially for us.  We loved all of their stories and beautiful illustrations they had to go along with them.  During playtime today we also thought about books! At the writing centre, some people designed their very own book cover.  We also had lots of fun with the puppet theatre where some of us acted out our favourite stories. With our new I-pads we loved being able to listen to some famous people reading our favourite stories to us.  We also had a few yellow-themed areas to keep us in line with our colour for the day - we loved playing with Bee-bot and even had some yellow playdough.  We also read some brilliant stories to day in class - one of our favourite's was The Smartest Giant in Town.  All in all we had a fabulous day celebrating everything we love about books!
