We carried out an investigation into germ transfer using Vaseline and red glitter ‘germs’.
Three pupils put Vaseline on their hands and then put hands into red glitter to show germs.
Henry then washed his hands well using soap and warm water. Natalie washed her hands briefly using only cold water and Kasie did not wash her hands.
These children then touched hands with the other children in their groups and we saw how the level of germ transfer varied from each child. As we predicted, the pupils with the most transferred germs came from the child who had not washed her hands.
