The heavy snowfall this morning could not curb the enthusiasm of our Y5 pupils as they set off on our trip to Navan. The children seated at the rear of the bus entertained us all with a few choruses which helped break the journey.
On arrival we were taken to a large amphitheatre where we were given an introductory talk about ancient Egypt.
Next we were given the opportunity to partake in some crafting. We made Pharaoh crowns. After this we went through to a second theatre where we learned more about Egyptian gods, the process of mummification and papyrus making.
Finally we were introduced to an Egyptian farmer and his slave. The children engaged in a little repartee with these characters and learned about what a typical day in the life of a farmer might entail.
The children had a fabulous time and thoroughly enjoyed the interaction afforded to them throughout the course of the day.
